We have been informed that a member of a family from St. Anne Parish has tested positive for COVID-19. The family last attended Mass at St. Anne - Tomball on Sunday, June 14 at 2 p.m. Based on health official recommendations and consultation with the Archdiocese, the decision has been made that it is not necessary to suspend the public celebration of Masses at St. Anne at this time.
WASHINGTON – Seven U.S. bishop chairmen of committees within the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops have issued a statement in the wake of the death of Mr. George Floyd and the protests which have broken out in Minneapolis and in other cities in the United States.
In accordance with the permissions and recommendations of Cardinal DiNardo that each Pastor devise methods that will work best for his individual parish based on its own size and situation, as the leader of the Pandemic Response Team of St. Anne – Tomball, I dictate the following:
Before planning for First Communion, we are waiting to hear from the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston that Sacramental Preparation Programs can resume.
Thursday, May 28, 2020 Public Mass – 8:30 a.m. NO PUBLIC MASS at 11:30 a.m. – No Anointing of the Sick Private Mass for St. Anne School 8th Grade Graduation - Students and & Parents Only – 11:30 a.m.
Cardinal DiNardo, Archbishop of Galveston-Houston, has granted permission to begin the reopening of public Masses. However, there is no obligation to attend Mass in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston until further notice and all the faithful, particularly those 60 and older and those with underlying health issues, are strongly encouraged to remain at home at this time. Of course, anyone who is showing any symptom of illness should remain in quarantine.
In addition to announcing the special blessing, Pope Francis said that at a time “when humanity trembles” because of the COVID-19 pandemic, he was asking Christians of every denomination to join together at noon March 25 to recite the Lord’s Prayer. The Catholic Church and many others mark March 25 as the feast of the Annunciation.
In response to concerns expressed by the faithful regarding the potential spread of the coronavirus illness (COVID-19) into our communities, the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston continues to monitor the health situation in the 10 counties within the Archdiocese.
Why take the census? Responses inform where over $675 billion is distributed each year to communities nationwide for clinics, schools, roads and more. Census data gives community leaders vital information to make decisions about building community centers, opening businesses, and planning for the future.
The Stations of the Cross are a 14-step Catholic devotion that commemorates Jesus Christ's last day on Earth as a man, beginning with His condemnation. The stations are commonly used as a mini pilgrimage as we move from station to station. At each station, we recall and meditates on a specific event from Christ's last day. Specific prayers are recited, then we move to the next station until all 14 are complete.
